Alpha International Context

Our Vision

(Re)Evangelisation of the Nations, Revitalisation of the Church, and Transformation of Society.

Our Mission

We equip and serve the church in its mission to help people to discover and develop a relationship with Jesus.

Our Values

We are for the church, by the church and through the church.

We are passionate about unity.

We believe the church deserves the highest quality.

We believe in giving it all away.

At Alpha, we believe that everyone should have the chance to explore the Christian faith. It’s our aim to resource the church in its evangelistic mission through the Alpha course, a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith.

Over the last 25 years, we estimate that over 35 million people have participated in the course, in over 170 countries, and our hope is that by the end of 2033, at least 100 million people will have participated in an Alpha course and heard the good news of Jesus.

Role purpose

Alpha Latin America (LATAM)  consists of a regional team and 4 National Alpha Offices (NAOs) across Latin America.  We are looking for a senior Catholic leader and influencer who can bring strategic leadership, energy and direction to our multiple Alpha National Directors and Catholic coordinators. This new director level role will lead the development of Alpha’s ministry in the Catholic Church across Latin America, developing our Church Engagement Framework (CEF) strategy in the Catholic context.

As LATAM Catholic Development Director you will connect at a regional level with leaders in the Catholic Church, having a proven track record as a strategic networker and influencer who can promote and facilitate cooperation across Latin america. You will have experience working closely with Bishops and senior church leaders, and ideally will have existing connections within the Vatican.

The postholder will report to Ministry Development LATAM Director and will collaborate with our NAOs to grow our capabilities to serve the Catholic Church in evangelisation. The overall aim is to oversee our national leadership’s use of the Church Engagement Framework to enable many more parishes within LATAM to ‘Explore’ and start running Alpha. This will include developing and sharing best practices to effectively serve the church and release growth in dioceses, parishes, movements & communities. They will also seek to model and lead Alpha’s value of pursuing unity within the LATAM region, looking for opportunities to share learnings from the Catholic context with other parts of the church that are less well developed. The postholder will be a member of the LATAM leadership team.

They will coach National Directors and Catholic coordinators on a one-to-one basis to develop and implement strategies that support parishes to run best practice Alphas that form missionary disciples and developing hub churches that multiply our mission.  They will work to develop the opportunities for strategic partnerships within the region. A key focus will be ensuring that Alpha and Divine Renovation collaborate and communicate well so that they are as aligned as possible within LATAM – particularly in the context of strategic and hub church development.
