Pope Francis received Alpha Argentina leaders in a private meeting

«The audience took place in the Library of the Apostolic Palace, where the president and vice president of the organization were able to tell the Holy Father about the mission they are undertaking. On October 30, Pope Francis received the management team of Alpha Argentina in a private audience at the Vatican. The president of Alpha Argentina, Jorge Sangüesa, and the vice president, Pablo Alois, along with their wives, participated in the meeting.

The audience took place in the library of the Apostolic Palace, where they were able to tell the Holy Father about the mission they are undertaking in Alpha Argentina and provide him with a perspective on the reality, challenges, and achievements that this evangelization tool has accomplished over the years.

Alpha offered, and continues to offer for free, an effective tool for a kerygmatic announcement with a new aesthetic and methodology in its application. For this reason, they presented him with a report on what has been done in recent years, especially in 2023. They were also able to discuss the joint work between Catholics and Protestants, so that the Lord may be more known and more loved, and the importance of the work that Alpha does with families, through the course for couples, engaged couples, and the course for parents.

Additionally, they shared with the pontiff everything that Alpha is contributing to the evangelization of adolescents, teaching staff, and parents in approximately 70 schools in Argentina. Francis responded to this work by focusing on two fundamental points: “Keep walking and working together”, in unity among Catholics and different Christian denominations; and “brazen”

Jorge and Pablo shared their excitement about having had this opportunity to speak with the Pope.

In our region, Alpha began to be used a little over 14 years ago by a few Catholic communities and has been expanding over the years. Today, communities throughout Latin America (parishes, schools, universities, prisons) organize Alpha with abundant fruits.
