Alpha

Latin America and the Caribbean

2025 Annual Report

Discover the impact of Alpha in Latin America and the Caribbean.

This is where it all begins

Zarzal, Colombia, is a community marked by conflict, gang presence, and curfews for minors. An environment where violence is not the exception, but part of everyday life—and where hope often feels like a luxury.
It is in this context that Camila lives. For her and her community, faith didn’t feel close or obvious. The Church felt distant, and religion seemed disconnected from the reality they faced every day.
Looking for God wasn’t at the center of their priorities, because simply surviving already took up too much space—until someone invited them to try Alpha.
What they found wasn’t just another religious message. It was something different, a space unlike any other.
A place where they could talk about their reality, ask questions without fear, and see their own story through a different lens.

Looking for God wasn’t at the center of their priorities, because simply surviving already took up too much space.

Camila remembers that process as a turning point for her entire community. She says Alpha helped them see their reality more clearly and opened their minds to the Church, to faith, and above all, to the search for God.
She describes Alpha’s methodology as “innovative, creative, and highly engaging,” and adds something that says it all:
“In our community, we had never experienced anything so exciting.” For her, the most profound moment came during the Alpha Day.
There, she experienced what she describes as “a real encounter with God” and formed a deep connection with the other participants.
It wasn’t just a passing emotional experience, but a moment that marked a before and after in her spiritual journey.
When she sums up what Alpha meant in her life, Camila says it with a simplicity that is deeply moving:
“Alpha truly changed my life.”
Alpha didn’t arrive in Zarzal with big stages or magical solutions.
It arrived with simple tables, honest conversations, and a relational space where faith became possible again.

Camila’s story is not an exception. It’s a window into what is happening every day at tables, in rooms, patios, prisons, universities, and homes across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Stories of impact across the region

Brasil – Sertão

In the sertão region in northeastern Brazil, Alpha began to take root in rural communities that have historically had limited access to pastoral support and formative resources.
People who had never participated in a space like this began meeting weekly, many of them with no previous experience in courses or structured groups.

For many participants, it was the first time they were offered a space where they could ask questions about life and faith without pressure or judgment.

The sessions were run in a simple and deeply contextualized way, using language that was close to the local reality.

Over the weeks, Alpha became a regular spiritual meeting point for people who had previously lived their faith in isolation.

This experience helped strengthen community life, build relationships among participants, and open new conversations about hope, purpose, and the Christian faith in a context marked by social and economic challenges.

Alpha did not arrive in the Sertão as an imported program. It came as an open table—deeply human and culturally relevant.

Argentina – Prisons: two stories, one shared table

At the Devoto prison in Buenos Aires, Alpha began through the initiative of Father Matías, a priest who decided to bring the course into a context where hope is often scarce.
The sessions became a unique space within the prison.

A place where people deprived of their freedom could speak without masks, without roles, and without additional judgment.

A space where, through Alpha, many began to rediscover something that confinement and violence had gradually taken from them: their identity as beloved children of God and their dignity as individuals.

One of the participants was Reinaldo—marked by a history of violence, addiction, and broken family relationships. During Alpha, he began to rethink his life, his identity, and his relationship with God.

Today, he shares how that space became the beginning of a deep process of personal transformation.
Father Matías and Reinaldo represent two sides of the same story. Two different journeys. One shared table. The same Gospel continuing to restore lives—even in places of confinement.

Alpha Youth: The heart of regional growth

One of the most significant developments of 2025 was the steady growth of Alpha Youth across Latin America and the Caribbean.
The data confirms that this is not a passing trend, but a structural dynamic shaping the direction of the ministry in the region. In 2025:

One of the most significant developments of 2025 was the steady growth of Alpha Youth across Latin America and the Caribbean—not as a passing “youth trend,” but as a real response to the spiritual disconnection this generation is experiencing, and to their genuine search for meaning, belonging, and purpose.
Throughout the year, the regional Alpha Youth strategy was strengthened, progress was made in adapting the product for use in the region, and a network of youth leaders was established across several countries.
These efforts are not only aimed at growing in numbers, but at building solid foundations for sustainable growth—with equipped teams, relevant resources, and a shared vision.

Alpha Ados: La Serie / Marathon 2025 – A historic year

In 2025, Alpha Youth: The Series (AYS) was launched, fully dubbed in Spanish and Portuguese. This updated resource enables teenagers to explore faith in an open, relational, and relevant way—using language that connects with their cultural reality.

Alongside the launch of the Series, a suite of training sessions was recorded in Spanish and Portuguese to equip youth leaders across the region.

These materials also included a set of trainings specifically designed for the Catholic context—responding to the growth of Alpha within schools, parishes, movements, and Catholic communities, and strengthening unity in the mission across different Christian traditions.

During August and September, the Alpha Youth Marathon took place—the annual initiative that invites churches across Latin America to run Alpha for teenagers. This year, the launch of the Series gave this initiative an unprecedented boost.
The initial goal was to reach 30,000 teenagers.

By the end of the 2025 edition, more than 52,000 young people had participated in Alpha Youth across the region.
Each course contributed to a broader regional movement, connecting communities and creating spaces where teenagers could feel heard, supported, and taken seriously in their questions about life and faith.

This result confirms the immense spiritual hunger of the next generation and reaffirms Alpha Ados: La Serie as a key tool for youth discipleship across Latin America and the Caribbean.

It also shows what is possible when the Church is equipped with contextualized resources, a shared vision, and a network of leaders committed to the same mission.

Brazil – Alpha Youth in a garage

In Indaiatuba, São Paulo, something extraordinary happened in a completely ordinary place.

Weber Gusmão’s 15-year-old son began sharing his faith with his group of school friends, not from a stage or in a church, but through his everyday life.

He talked with them during school breaks, on the field, and through WhatsApp messages. To take the next step with these friends, the family decided to run an Alpha Youth course.

The sessions weren’t held in a church building, but in the garage of one of the friends’ homes. That everyday space became a place of encounter with Jesus.

Young people who would never have set foot in a church began exploring faith in a comfortable, relational, and culturally relevant environment.
This simple gesture, using a garage as a space for mission, illustrates how the next generation is breaking barriers and using their own networks to invite others to explore Jesus in an authentic way.

Circles and Spaces: equipping youth leaders

In September, Alpha Youth experienced a key moment with the Circles and Spaces gathering in Mexico City. More than 300 youth leaders from different countries came together at the Más Vida Church auditorium in Mexico City to receive training, share experiences, and align around a common vision to reach the next generation.

Leading up to the gathering, the Alpha Youth Coordinators’ Retreat brought together regional leaders to strengthen strategies, with input from Dan Blythe, Global Director of Alpha Youth, and Aaron González, Head of Alpha Youth in England. Together, they mapped out a clear path to strengthen youth engagement across Latin America.
Circles and Spaces became a turning point for the youth leaders network. Participants were equipped with practical tools to innovate in how they present the Gospel, share high-impact learnings, and build a more connected regional community. This space not only strengthened individual capacities, but also laid solid foundations for the sustainable growth of Alpha Youth—with better-prepared leaders ready to launch new courses in their local contexts.

Looking to the future

Alpha Latin America and the Caribbean is entering a new season of maturity.
The global 2033 vision inspires us, but our focus today is on the next three years—a key period to consolidate what is already growing and to scale impact in a sustainable way. We are investing in:

We are not just aiming to grow in numbers. We are seeking to grow in spiritual depth, in real transformation, and in sustainable impact for the next generations.

None of this would be possible without you.

Every story, every table, every conversation, and every transformed life is the result of a living partnership between donors, churches, volunteers, and local teams.

Thank you for walking with us.
